St Wilfrid’s are now looking for an experienced Activities Coordinator to join our team to create a stimulating and varied programme of leisure activities and social events inside and outside the home for our elderly residents to enjoy.

As an Activities Coordinator, you will be essential to ensuring the well-being of our residents is fully met. St Wilfrid’s ethos is all about offering a supportive environment for people in their later years. Our objectives are for our residents to be able to enjoy a fun, healthy lifestyle no matter their age or mobility. Applicants for this position must share this objective and must have good interpersonal skills, be enthusiastic and innovative with the ability to think outside of the box.

This is an excellent opportunity for an Activity Coordinator who has a track record of proven success in working with an elderly client group planning and running rolling weekly activities, as well as medium size events and outings. Our residents are all individuals and to ensure that our resident’s individual lifestyle needs are met, the applicant will have to get to know residents and their relative and offer a bespoke/ tailored service where possible.

We are a 44 bedded not for profit Care Home for persons over the age of 65 years situated in the heart of Chelsea , owned by the Daughters of the Cross of Liege a Christian Charity.

As an Activities Coordinator you will be expected to provide a suitable timetable of activities for the majority if not all of the residents, arrange suitable outings, events, guest speakers as well as create and maintain links with other social groups/organisations such as lunch clubs, local churches and the Royal Chelsea Hospital, as well as recruit, manage and coordinate volunteers; the role will be overseen by the General Manager.

The ideal candidate will have experience of working as an Activities Coordinator in an elderly Care Home or other organization with the client group. As well as linking with other departments there will be a certain amount of lone working and autonomy in this role so strong communication and organisational skills is a must. The candidate should have experience of completing risk assessments and inputting activity information into Care Plans. To be eligible for this role you will need to have a thorough understanding of CQC regulations and the necessary administration and observation work that the role will entail to ensure the home is always CQC compliant.

Person Specification: The role holder will ideally have a minimum of 2 years’ experience working as an Activities Coordinator with an elderly client group, must have experience of compiling social plans for elderly people and resourcing entertainment, be approachable and friendly, have excellent verbal and written skills, be able to to return and record information and carry out instructions proactively and accurately, adhere to confidentiality rules, organise and priorities workload and work well in a team.

The role holder must be able to work with our elderly residents, their relatives and other stakeholders to ensure that our resident’s live fulfilled and enriched lives when at St Wilfrid’s.
